Location & History of the Majestic Downtown
The Majestic Downtown venue is a historical gem of Downtown LA, located on S. Spring Street, south of the Arts District LA. There are many public parking lots around the venue, so visitors don’t have any problems with the issue. The venue offers its valet service, as well.

The Majestic house was built in 1921 by a world-famous architectural company Schultze & Weaver and was the genuine masterpiece of the Beaux-Arts architecture combining strong classic features with materials, modern at the time. At first, the building was owned by the Hellman Commercial Trust & Savings Bank, after that, it became the headquarters of Bank of America, from 1930 until 1972. The historical facade of the building almost didn’t change: you can immediately recognize its giant columns and big arched windows you’d seen in lots of films including Spiderman 2 and Criminal minds. Keeping its royal majesty, nowadays the building is a unique event venue right in the city center, full of historical value.
The Majestic offers several event spaces with breathtaking 40-foot high ceilings with paintings and vintage marble floors with an entire space of 30,000+ square feet. When you see all this beauty, you can easily imagine a royal wedding here. So, it’s a great choice if you plan your wedding on a big scale in unrivaled historical decorations.

Events Areas of the Majestic Downtown
At the Majestic Downtown, you can organize the biggest party of all which you’ve experienced before: the maximum number of people for an event is 3,000 persons. The venue will offer you different event spaces:
- the Grand Hall that can be divided
- into the South & North Halls,
- and the Catwalk.
The Grand Hall is the entire space you see when you enter the Majestic venue, it combines both the North & South Hall. The highlight of the hall is a marble staircase you’ve probably seen in many films. It leads to the Mezzanine with its 4,000 square feet space. From above, you’ll have a gallery view of the ground floor.
The entire Grand Hall space can hold 600 guests for a reception dinner or up to 1, 200 for a standing cocktail party.
North & South halls are parts of the Grand Hall, located in front of each other. Both feel more intimate and perfectly suitable for smaller celebrations. For the North space it’s up to 150 guests for a sit-down dinner, and 250 for a cocktail party.

The South Hall is bigger than the northern part: it includes a foyer, raised stage, full bar, and two grand staircases to the Mezzanine. So, it can hold up to 400 guests on the ground floor. Or you can use both the South Hall and the Mezzanine for 800 guests, for example, for a cocktail party.
The Catwalk is located on the lower level of the venue, it’s a non-traditional; event space with raised platforms and nightclub lighting. The centerpiece of the room is a multi-level scene. You can place here up to 600 guests for a cocktail party.
You see that the entire space of the majestic venue is really giant and options of using and combining spaces are endless.

Bridal & Groom Preparation Areas of the Majestic Downtown
The venue will provide you with two bridal suites but you can choose for your preparation another remarkable spot in Downtown LA as we did: the bride decided on the Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles. More about this place you can read here.
We took First Look shots for that wedding also at the Biltmore Hotel. So, here we go directly to group shots.

Wedding party & Family Photos at the Majestic Downtown
Your guests will really love that they will have access to the whole place. They can walk around and explore the entire space. It gives a lot of opportunities to take pictures: every corner is a perfect spot.

We took some group shots at the marble staircase and lots of pictures at the altar spot before the ceremony. You can check out other ideas: use the historical facade as the backdrop, try to take a couple of shots above from the Mezzanine looking down at the crowd, and in the Catwalk room. At the Majestic, there are lots of photo opportunities.

Ceremony site of the Majestic Downtown
The venue itself is mostly blank, open space. It has its unrivaled vintage ambiance and you need only bring this beauty alive by adding a personal touch. For the ceremony, couples usually use the southern part of the Grand hall under the gold, detailed ceiling, and the beaded chandeliers. Still, you can hire an outside lighting company to add more light during your ceremony & reception. In the evening, the venue’s lighting may be a bit dim which actually adds to the special very romantic atmosphere of the place.

At the wedding in the photos, the Grand Hall was divided into ceremony & reception sites with white draperies. The couple with whom I worked, chose a white & black wedding theme. They added milky white drapery and lighting to customize their event. Their florist adorned the altar spot richly with floral arrangements, so the ceremony site looked both stunning and impressive.

Reception site of the Majestic Downtown
After the vows were exchanged, the ceremony spot was transformed into a dance floor. On the opposite side, there were tables for a sit-down dinner. As you see in the photos, the couple put a lot into lighting and flowers and it worked perfectly. You really don’t need much decor, the space itself is a glorious elegance.
The couple made their Grand Entrance from one of the marble back staircases and performed their dance under the beaded chandeliers. By the way, these crystals that cascade like a golden rain from the chandeliers are removable so you can easily transform the hall as you need.

The dance space is perfect for a bigger guest amount. Another perk of the Majestic is though the place is in the middle of Downtown LA once inside, your guests will not hear the outside noise, especially once you play the music.
You can take lots of great pictures from above from the Mezzanine and see that this venue with all its space is really out of the kind: it’s a blank canvas which can be transformed both into a grandiose lavish celebration with sparkles, firework, and confetti or into an elegant and glamorous event.

All advantages of the Majestic Downtown Los Angeles
The Majestic is a right place whether you want to celebrate your event very lavishly & luxurious or if you want to be slightly budget-minded but in an unrivaled historical setting.

The Majestic Downtown is perfect if you want your ceremony and reception together in one place. It’s different from all the usual banquet halls you see. As for the Majestic Downtown venue cost, it’s still reasonably priced.
Another great perk is the ability to have the space to yourself for the full day. It gives vendors enough time to set up, load, and takedown at the end of the night.

The venue gives you the flexibility to make it yours with your special touch. It’s a great starting point with beautiful decor elements opposite to an empty hall where you need to bring in literally all to create the atmosphere. On the other hand, at the Majestic, you don’t have to decorate the venue much. Anyway, you won’t outdo this historical masterpiece 🙂
